The path to voice over

I have worked in the media and event industry since 2001. As a technical staff member in the web TV department of one of the largest Swiss media companies, I was responsible for clean sound on video contributions and was regularly booked as the voice for editorial pieces, advertising formats and billboards. A casting for a radio station finally settled it: since 2011 I have been working as a freelance voice over artist in Switzerland.

I trained with the Swiss voice over artists Mark Baer and Gabriela Leutwiler; for stage German I work with Kathrin Geissmann. I am a member of the Swiss association of professional voice over artists (VPS) and listed in international rosters such as Bodalgo and Voicearchive.

How I work

With my background in sound engineering, professional equipment and an acoustically treated recording booth, I deliver recordings your studio can use without any reworking. You brief me on pronunciation, tone and dialect, or you listen in live over Source-Connect, Zoom or Teams and direct every take.

For advertising formats I deliver three to five tonality variants. You receive the recordings as WAV, AIFF or MP3, raw or edited, usually by the next business day and often the same day. More on the technology on the sound studio page, and on the conditions in the rates.

Swiss German that is genuine

I speak Zurich German, a slightly softened Bernese German and High German with or without a Swiss colouring. Which variant suits which production is explained on the page Swiss German in media productions; audio samples of all dialects are on the dialects page.

Commitment

Around 10 % of my fee, calculated after all costs, goes each year into scholarships for young people from low-income backgrounds. Education is, in my view, the best way out of poverty. So whoever books my voice is at the same time supporting young professionals and students at the start of their working lives.
